The Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (DOOL), Kalyani University has started itsjou rney in the year 2006. Directorate was started with a magnificent artefact in terms of its state of the art infrastructure, well trained and dedicated faculties and immense learning exposure to enormous number of aspirants seeking higher education from remote areas of state. Currently, Directorate is performing under the esteemed direction and leadership of the Prof. Manas K Sanyal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Kalyani.
Directorate ODL takes education to its wide array of learners who are detached by time and space and cannot afford regular mode of education for various limitations. At present, the Directorate Open and Distance Learning (ODL), Kalyani University is conducting Post Graduate Degree Courses in eight subjects of arts (Bengali, English, History, and Education) and science (Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Geography). Under the new regulations of Distance Education Bureau (DEB) introduced by UGC in 2017, Directorate ODL, Kalyani University is emerged with high potency and becomes helpful for skill development and career enhancement of the distant learners. Presently, CBCS system has been implemented according to the regulation of UGC, and DOOL has modified the syllabi accordingly to keep new curriculum as per regular Post Graduate courses. DOOL, Kalyani University is now enriched with sixteen numbers of qualified contractual faculties as Assistant Professors. The Directorate also imparts teaching to the distance learners through printed course material as SLM format which is also available on the official website of the Directorate, Kalyani University. Regular evaluation of students and systematic examination system of DOOL also confers its challenges through students’ progress and their high quality academic achievements.
