Message From The Desk of Vice-Chancellor
The Directorate of Open and Distance Leaming (DOOL), University of Kalyani, began its luminous journey in the academic session 2006-2007 with the goal of fulfilling the dream of higher education to a large number of learners who remain excluded from its golden halo. Initially, the Directorate of Open and Distance Learning introduced four subjects: Bengali, English, History, and Education. With the progression or temporal span its has proved its success which reflected in the accelerating number of student enrollment in the various academic session starting from 2006 to 2017-2018 in its 42 affiliated Study Centres as well as University Head Quarters throughout the State of West Bengal.
Of late, the DOOL, University of Kalyani, has 25 Study Centres as well as University Head Quarter across the districts of Nadia, Murshidabad, and part of Bizpur Police Station. Kancharapa in North 24 Parganas. With the introduction of UGC-DEB Regulations, 2017 and its
amendment the DOOL has been able to set unprecedented examples of academic excellence for the learners through the Distance mode of Learning. Semester-based M.A and M .Sc. programmes have been introduced. Apart from preexisting four Arts subjects: Bengali, English, History, and Education. the DOOL has introduced M.Sc. Programmes in four new Science subjects: Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, and Geography. The new CBCS curriculum has been introduced for keeping parity with the conventional mode of Post Graduate Programme offered by the University. For ensuring student participation in the Personal Contact Programmes (PCP) new Biometric Attendance system has been implemented.
In order to ensure a smooth teaching-learning procedure. the Directorate of Open and Distance Learning, University of Kalyani has recruited 16 dedicated contractual full time facu lties who are worl<lng rou nd the clock even during the time of COVlD-19 pandemic situation by imparting education through online mode. In this COVID- 19 pandemic situation this Directorate has introduced Google Question Link on Multiple Choice Based for internal
assessment examinations or the students. The introduction or online mode of admission
process, punctuality in publication of results, and a learner-centric adminitration – are all new dimensions in the Directorate of Open and Distance Leaming, University of Kalyani.
I ardently believe that all the students’of the Directorate of Open and Distance Learning,
University of Kalyani will be able to fulfill their dreams of higher education by successfully completing the courses.
